The female breadwinner phenomenon illustrates a shift in the configuration of family economic contributions where the woman becomes the primary provider, while the husband's income is relatively lower or unstable. This study analyzes the construction of the female breadwinner role, the factors driving the shift in women's economic contributions, the process of gender role negotiation, and the implications for family resilience in Palenggiyan Village, Kedungdung District, Sampang Regency. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving 10 married couples (20 informants) selected purposively. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using Reflexive Thematic Analysis. The analysis utilized perspectives on gender role negotiation and family resilience, while interpreting principles of Islamic Family Law—specifically mu‘?syarah bi al-ma‘r?f (harmonious living), ?uq?q wa w?jib?t al-zawjayn (spousal rights and obligations), sy?r? (mutual consultation), and mub?dalah (reciprocity). The findings indicate that the female breadwinner role emerges through a compensatory mechanism addressing the husband's economic limitations alongside the expansion of the woman's economic capacity. This shift in economic contribution does not automatically transform gender relations; rather, it prompts negotiations regarding economic contributions, domestic work, child-rearing, and decision-making. From an interpretive standpoint, this pattern reflects a spousal relationship grounded in mutual respect, shared responsibility, consultation, and cooperation—values ??embodied in Islamic Family Law principles. Negotiation strengthens family resilience through income stabilization, flexibility, communication, and cooperation, despite the potential for a double burden. The study confirms that the change in economic contribution serves as the initial condition, gender role negotiation acts as the relational mechanism, and family resilience emerges as the adaptive outcome
